Atsiaman lies on the western edge of the Greater Accra metropolitan area, one of several communities that have grown rapidly as the capital expanded. From above, it looks like a place still taking shape: clusters of houses and newly laid streets, with patches of open ground between them.
Unlike Accra's older districts, the street pattern here is uneven. Some areas follow planned rectangular blocks, and others grow more organically along footpaths and older roads. A few main routes carry traffic toward the city centre and give the map its strongest lines, while the side streets form a finer, more varied mesh.
