Aznā lies in eastern Lorestan, in the high valleys of the Zagros mountains. From above, the town is a compact settlement on a fairly flat valley floor, with streets that are denser at the centre and more open toward the edges. The mountains stand at a distance, and you can see their pull in how the roads bend and gather toward the few natural passages.
The land around the town is farmed, divided into fields and crossed by irrigation channels and farm tracks.
