Bahlā’ Map Poster & Print
Bahlā’ lies in the interior of Oman, in Ad Dakhiliyah, at the foot of the Hajar Mountains. It is an oasis town, and its map is organised around water and defence. Palm groves irrigated by falaj channels cover a large part of the area, and the old town and farmland are enclosed by a long mud-brick wall that stretches for kilometres.
Bahla Fort, one of the largest in Oman, dominates the old town and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is also known for its pottery. The falaj system of channels that distribute water to the gardens is another part of the heritage of the region.
A Bahlā’ map poster shows an unusual structure. There is no simple grid. The narrow lanes of the old settlement bend around the fort, the palm gardens form a soft, dense texture, and newer roads extend beyond the historic core into the desert. The line of the old wall and the surrounding plains give the composition a clear boundary.

Oasis gardens
Palm groves irrigated by falaj channels fill much of the town, creating a dense, soft texture between the built-up lanes.
Old town wall
A long mud-brick wall encloses the historic settlement and its gardens. It traces a large outline around the heart of the oasis.

For Omanis and for travellers who have visited the interior, Bahlā’ is a place of forts, palms and mountains. A map of its lanes and gardens keeps that memory clear and calm on a wall at home.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised, including text in Arabic, and there are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. It is available as HD digital files or a printed poster.
