Barcelos Map Poster & Print
Barcelos lies in the Minho region of northern Portugal, on the north bank of the Cávado river. The historic centre sits on the higher ground above the water, and an old stone bridge links it to Barcelinhos on the opposite bank. From above, the river and bridge make an obvious starting point for the eye.
The town is famous as the home of the Rooster of Barcelos, the figure from a local legend that became one of Portugal's national symbols. It is also known for a large weekly market held in the broad main square, the Campo da República, which shows on the map as a big open space among the streets.
A Barcelos map poster sets out that familiar structure: the curve of the Cávado, the medieval bridge, the tight lanes of the old centre and the wide market square beyond. Newer districts spread out around them, but the historic core still defines the plan.

Cávado river
The river runs along the southern edge of the historic centre, its gentle curve framing the town and separating it from the opposite bank.

Barcelos is a place people remember for its Thursday market, its ceramic roosters and its riverside old town. A map of the centre gives that memory a permanent, understated form, whether you grew up in the Minho or visited once.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates, and add a date. Pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper suits the older lanes and the river well.
