Bastos Map Poster & Print
Bastos lies in the western part of São Paulo state, in the flat to gently rolling farmland of the Alta Paulista region. The town has a clear, regular street grid, with straight blocks meeting at right angles, and it is surrounded by agricultural land. From above, the urban area forms a neat rectangle within the patchwork of fields.
Bastos was founded in the late 1920s as a colony of Japanese immigrants, and that heritage is still part of local identity. The town is widely known in Brazil as the national egg capital, a title that reflects its large poultry industry, and it celebrates it with an annual egg festival.
A Bastos map poster shows the orderly planning of a colony town. The regular blocks sit at the centre and roads run straight out into the fields around them. It is a clean, balanced composition, and for anyone with roots in the town's Japanese-Brazilian community it has a personal story behind every street.

Farmland patchwork
Around the urban area, fields and farm roads cover the land. The poultry farms that made Bastos known sit in this landscape, beyond the town's clean edges.
Straight regional roads
Roads leave the town in long, nearly straight lines across open country, extending the grid's logic outward and framing the town neatly within the print.
