Bata Map Poster
Bata is the largest city of Equatorial Guinea and the main urban centre of Río Muni, the country's mainland region. It stretches along the Gulf of Guinea coast, and from above the shore is its defining line: nearly straight, lined by a seafront promenade, with the town's older blocks close behind and newer districts extending inland into forested ground.
Unlike Malabo, which sits on the island of Bioko, Bata faces the continent and serves as its gateway, with a port handling much of the mainland's trade. The city has grown quickly in recent decades, adding wide boulevards, roundabouts and new neighbourhoods, so its map combines a compact older grid near the water with looser patterns further out.

The port interrupts the coastline with piers and a protective breakwater, a set of sharp geometric shapes set against the otherwise gentle curve of the shore.
