Berdyansk Map Poster & Print
Berdyansk lies on the northern shore of the Sea of Azov, where the Berda River reaches the coast. The most striking shape on its map is the Berdyansk Spit, a narrow tongue of sand that curves south-west into the sea for many kilometres. Lagoons and shallow water line it on both sides.
The town was founded in the 1820s as a grain port. Its older streets form a regular grid rising from the harbour up the slope behind it. The port breakwaters and quays fill the waterfront. Resort areas, sanatoriums and beaches continue along the shore towards the base of the spit.
A Berdyansk map poster brings together three distinct forms: the planned grid, the working harbour and the sweeping line of sand. For many people it is also a record of summers spent by the warm, shallow Azov water.

Nineteenth-century grid
The historic centre follows a regular grid laid out when the port was founded. Its streets climb the slope above the harbour.
Harbour and breakwaters
Quays and protective moles form hard, straight lines along the waterfront, clearly separate from the soft beaches further along the shore.

Berdyansk holds strong memories for the people who lived there and for those who spent summers on its beaches. A map keeps hold of the streets, the harbour and the spit, whatever distance lies between them and the viewer now.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a name or a date, and choose one of five styles. Blueprint suits the sea and the port, and Paper gives a softer, archival look.
