Biswanath Chariali Map Poster & Print
Biswanath Chariali is on the north bank of the Brahmaputra in Assam and serves as the headquarters of Biswanath district. Its name comes from the Assamese word chariali, meaning a meeting of four roads. That describes the map well: the town grew around a crossroads, with shops and houses lining the routes out in each direction.
To the south lies the Brahmaputra, one of the widest rivers in Asia, with braided channels, sandbars and river islands that shift over time. Around the town, tea gardens form large, regular estates with neat internal paths, a very different texture from the looser pattern of paddy fields and villages.
Biswanath Ghat, on the river, is known for its old temples and is sometimes called Gupta Kashi. A Biswanath Chariali map poster shows the crossroads town, the tea estates and the vast river beyond them, a clear picture of Assam's north bank.

Tea estates
Large tea gardens surround the town in wide, orderly blocks, with fine internal paths that create a distinctive regular texture.
Brahmaputra channels
The river's braided channels, sandbars and islands spread across the south of the region, forming wide, fluid shapes on the map.
