Vitim River
The broad Vitim curves past the town, the widest shape on the map and for much of the year the most important route in and out of Bodaybo.

Bodaybo Map Poster & Print
Bodaybo stands on the Vitim River in the north-east of Irkutsk Oblast, deep in the Siberian taiga and far from any railway. For more than a century it has been the centre of the Lena goldfields, one of Russia's oldest gold-mining areas. The town is reached mainly by air and, in the summer, by river.
On the map Bodaybo is a small, orderly grid pressed along the riverbank, where the Bodaybo River joins the Vitim. Straight streets of wooden and low-rise houses run parallel to the water, and beyond the last blocks the map quickly empties into forest, hills and river channels.
The goldfields are also linked to the Lena massacre of 1912, when striking miners were shot near the mines, an event that echoed across Russia. A Bodaybo map poster presents the town simply: a grid, a wide river and the wilderness around them.

Riverside grid
Streets run in a neat grid parallel to the river, a compact settlement pattern that stands out sharply against the surrounding empty land.
River confluence
The smaller Bodaybo River meets the Vitim beside the town, and the joining channels give the composition a natural focal point.

A Bodaybo map is for those who worked in the goldfields, grew up in the town or have family who went north. It captures the isolation of the place: a small grid of streets on a great Siberian river.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a year or a name, and choose one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
