Territorial boundary
The line between the Northwest Territories and Nunavut crosses the island, which is why Borden appears on the maps of two Canadian territories while having no permanent inhabitants at all.

Borden Island Map Poster & Print
Borden Island lies far up in the Queen Elizabeth Islands of the Canadian High Arctic, closer to the pole than almost any settled place. From above it shows a flat, uneven outline, cut by shallow bays and low headlands, with no roads, towns or harbours. The only mark people have made is a straight administrative line crossing the land.
That line is the boundary between the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, which divides the island between the two. On paper it is a precise diagonal. On the ground there is only tundra, gravel and frost-shattered plain. Narrow Wilkins Strait separates Borden from neighbouring Mackenzie King Island, and for most of the year both are held in frozen sea.
A Borden Island map poster is mostly about outline and space. With no streets, the drawing depends on the coastline, the channels that pull the island apart from its neighbours, and the wide blank of the Arctic Ocean to the north. It suits people who like maps that feel close to abstract, where one clean shape carries the whole image.

Wilkins Strait
A narrow channel separates Borden from Mackenzie King Island. On the map the two coastlines nearly meet, making the pair read as one broken landmass split by a thin line of water.
Frayed Arctic coast
Shallow bays and low points break the shoreline all the way around. With no roads or buildings to compete with it, that irregular edge becomes the main drawing on the poster.

Some people hang Borden Island because they have worked, researched or travelled in the far north. Others want a map with no city in it at all, just an island at the edge of the charted world, quiet enough to sit well in a study or a hallway.
You can personalise the title, the subtitle and the coordinates line, for example with the dates of an Arctic expedition. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint and Noir work especially well with a shape made almost entirely of coastline.
