Bourg-en-Bresse Map Poster & Print
Bourg-en-Bresse sits at the eastern edge of the Bresse plain, a wide stretch of farmland, hedgerows and ponds, with the Revermont foothills of the Jura rising a short distance to the east. On the map the town reads as a dense old core ringed by boulevards, with roads fanning outward to Lyon, Mâcon and Geneva and thinning quickly into fields.
The small River Reyssouze threads through the town from south to north, and its narrow course shows up as a quiet line between blocks and green strips. To the southeast stands the Royal Monastery of Brou, built in the early sixteenth century on the wishes of Margaret of Austria, whose church and cloisters form a distinct rectangular footprint beside the main road out of town.
As the prefecture of the Ain department, Bourg is also known well beyond France for Bresse poultry, the only chicken with a protected designation of origin. A Bourg-en-Bresse map poster captures the town at a readable scale: the tight medieval centre, the ring of wider avenues, the monastery grounds and the scattered hamlets of the surrounding plain.

The Reyssouze
A modest river that crosses the town lengthwise, its course marked by bridges, small parks and a slight break in the otherwise continuous street pattern.
Boulevard ring
Wider boulevards trace the line of the old town limits, enclosing a knot of short, irregular streets around the church of Notre-Dame and the market squares.

Some people buy this map because they grew up in Bourg, studied there or passed through on the way to the Jura. Others simply like how clearly the old centre, the ring and the radiating roads resolve into a single legible shape on a white sheet.
You can set your own title and subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line to mark a street or a date that matters to you. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room where it will hang.
