Railway junction
Several lines meet near the station and fan out across the landscape. Their smooth curves contrast with the irregular medieval streets of the centre.

Braine-le-Comte Map Poster & Print
Braine-le-Comte lies in the province of Hainaut, in Wallonia, between Brussels and Mons. The town grew around a compact historic centre with its main square, and later around the railway station, a junction on the line from Brussels toward Mons and France. On a map the centre is a knot of irregular streets, with the tracks sweeping past in long, gentle curves.
The municipality also includes several villages, among them Ronquières. There the Brussels–Charleroi Canal climbs a hillside on the Ronquières inclined plane, one of the best-known pieces of canal engineering in Europe. Opened in 1968, it carries boats in huge water-filled tanks along a sloping track more than a kilometre long, saving a long series of locks.
A Braine-le-Comte map poster works at two scales. Close in, it shows the old streets, the square and the station. Pulled back, it takes in the wider municipality: farmland, woods and scattered villages, with the straight, engineered line of the canal cutting across the countryside to the east.

Ronquières inclined plane
The canal's long, perfectly straight inclined section stands out on a wider map as a precise stroke through the rolling Hainaut countryside.
Historic centre
Short, winding streets gather around the main square in a compact core that reads as a dense cluster within the more open surroundings.
