Bridgend Map Poster & Print
Bridgend, Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr in Welsh, takes its name from its crossing over the River Ogmore, which runs north to south through the town centre. On a map the river divides the older streets into two sides, linked by a handful of bridges, including the old stone bridge that gives the town its name.
Around that historic core, housing estates extend in all directions, with curving cul-de-sacs typical of later growth. The M4 motorway runs along the north of the town, and the main railway line between Cardiff and Swansea passes through the centre, adding two long, strong lines to the composition.
Bridgend sits between Cardiff and Swansea, close to the coast at Porthcawl and the valleys to the north. A Bridgend map poster shows a town where river, rail and motorway all meet, with the older centre still clear inside the modern pattern.

The old bridge
The medieval stone bridge over the Ogmore, from which the town takes its name, crosses the river at the heart of the historic centre.
M4 and railway
The motorway to the north and the main line through the centre form long, smooth lines that frame the town's older and newer streets.
