This Cambundi sits at around 10.89° S, 17.76° E, toward the southern end of Malanje Province in Angola's central highlands. From above, the settlement is small and self-contained. A short network of streets gathers where local routes meet, and the land beyond is broad and lightly marked. On a poster the town looks like a single mark placed deliberately in a large, quiet field.
Southern Malanje is upland country cut by river valleys that drain toward the Kwanza system. Mapped in monochrome, those valleys appear as thin, wandering lines. The roads follow simpler, more direct paths. Setting the organic curves of water against the straighter lines of the routes gives an otherwise minimal map some structure and rhythm.
