Capoeiras is a municipality in the agreste of Pernambuco, the transitional region between the humid coast and the dry sertão of northeastern Brazil. The town itself is compact. On the map its streets form a small, fairly regular centre that ends quickly in open land, with roads leaving toward neighbouring municipalities and rural communities.
The surrounding landscape is rural and gently undulating, used for farming and grazing. From above this appears as a wide field of thin lines: tracks, property boundaries and small watercourses that rise in the rainy season and shrink in the dry months. The town is a single concentrated point inside this larger pattern.
