Capunda lies in the Kwanza Sul province of Angola, a short distance east of Conda, in the rolling country inland from the coast. It is a small place, and from above it appears as a modest cluster of streets and plots surrounded by a large landscape of fields, trees and tracks.
The map is simple and spacious. A few main roads give the settlement its structure, with smaller paths leading off to homes and farms. Streams and low ground cross the surrounding land in thin, winding lines. Most of the poster is open countryside, with the settlement as a small focus in the middle.
