Carrara Map Poster & Print
Carrara stretches from the Ligurian Sea into the Apuan Alps in northern Tuscany, and its map reads like a cross-section of the landscape. On the coast, Marina di Carrara has a regular grid and a working port with long breakwaters. Inland, a straight axis leads to the historic centre, set in a narrow valley where the Carrione stream comes down from the mountains.
Above the town, the character changes completely. Roads twist up steep valleys toward the quarry basins of Colonnata, Fantiscritti and Torano, where white marble has been cut since Roman times. Michelangelo came here to choose blocks for his sculptures. On the map, switchbacks and quarry roads cover the slopes in tight, zigzag lines.
A Carrara map poster brings the whole sequence together: sea, port, plain, old town and mountains, in one frame. The old centre, with its Romanesque cathedral and Academy of Fine Arts, sits right between the two worlds. Few places show so clearly how geology has shaped a city.

Carrione valley
The historic centre lies along the Carrione stream in a narrow valley, its streets pressed between the slopes as they descend toward the plain.
Marina di Carrara
On the coast, the seaside district and marble port form a flat, regular grid, with breakwaters extending straight out into the sea.

Sculptors, stonemasons, architects and anyone who has stood among the white quarries will recognise the drama of this map. The descent from mountain to sea makes an unusually rich composition, and it suits a studio or a large living-room wall.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper nods to the marble. The $9 download includes six print sizes in PNG and PDF, or order a matte print.
