The castle rock
Carrickfergus Castle stands on a rocky outcrop right on the lough shore. On the map it forms a distinct point where the town meets the water, beside the harbour.

Carrickfergus Map Poster & Print
Carrickfergus stretches along the northern shore of Belfast Lough in County Antrim. On the map the coastline defines everything. The town follows the water in a long band, with the harbour and marina cut into the shore and the old centre gathered just behind them.
At the heart of it is Carrickfergus Castle, built by John de Courcy from about 1177 on a basalt rock that juts into the lough. It's one of the best-preserved Norman castles in Ireland. William III landed here in 1690 on his way to the Boyne, and stretches of the town walls still outline the medieval core.
A Carrickfergus map poster shows how directly the town is tied to the sea. The shoreline runs across the frame, the harbour walls reach into the water and the medieval street pattern sits tightly beside the castle. Newer estates climb gently inland, so there's a clear sequence from the oldest streets to the most recent.

Harbour and marina
Piers and breakwaters shape the waterfront into sheltered basins. Their angular lines contrast with the natural curve of the Belfast Lough coast.
Medieval core
Behind the castle, the old town keeps a compact, irregular street plan, still partly traced by its historic walls, before giving way to later suburban growth.

Carrickfergus works well on a wall because it's instantly legible: a coastline, a castle and a harbour, with the lough stretching away. It suits locals, the Northern Irish diaspora and anyone who has walked the promenade.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for instance with a wedding date or a family name. The five styles run from Classic black & white and Noir to Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
