Chabet el Ameur is a town in Boumerdès Province in northern Algeria, inland from the Mediterranean coast and at the western edge of the Kabylie hills. On a map it sits in uneven land, and its streets curve to follow the slopes instead of forming a regular grid.
Roads leave the centre along ridgelines and valleys, linking hamlets and farmland on the surrounding hills. The land is broken into small plots, orchards and patches of scrub, and the road network thins out as the terrain becomes steeper.
