Charata Map Poster & Print
Charata stands on the flat lands of Argentina's Chaco province, far from the hills and the coast. The town was laid out in the planned way common across the Argentine interior. From above you see a regular grid of square blocks, with a central plaza and avenues running out to the edges of town.
Around the town the grid carries on at a much larger scale. Straight rural roads divide the plain into broad agricultural plots, part of the farming economy that has long supported the region. The contrast between the fine urban grid and the coarse field grid is the most striking thing about Charata on a map.
A Charata map poster makes that geometry the subject. The plaza sits at the centre, the blocks repeat with calm regularity, and the rail and road connections cross the plain in long, unbroken lines. It is a clean, architectural design that suits minimalist interiors.

Square block grid
Evenly spaced streets form a chessboard of blocks, typical of planned towns on the Argentine plains and very legible in black and white.
Field roads
Straight rural tracks run out across the flat land, extending the town's order into the agricultural countryside beyond.

Charata's map has the appeal of a well-drawn plan: ordered, open and calm. For people from the Chaco it is a reminder of home, and for anyone else it is simply a strong graphic.
