Chicacao is a municipality in the department of Suchitepéquez, on the Pacific side of Guatemala. It lies in the band of land between the volcanic highlands and the coastal plain, where the ground slopes gradually toward the ocean. On a map the town appears as a compact grid of blocks, surrounded by agricultural land and crossed by roads leading to neighbouring towns.
The territory around it is largely rural, with farms, plantations and scattered communities connected by lanes. Streams run down from higher ground toward the south, cutting shallow lines across the landscape. The town's grid, typical of Guatemalan municipal centres, is organised around a central plaza and church.
