Choornikkara lies in Ernakulam district in central Kerala, close to Aluva and within the wider urban region around Kochi. Like much of this part of the state, it has no sharp line between town and country. From above, houses are spread among coconut palms and garden plots, linked by a network of winding lanes that follow the land rather than any grid.
