Dyat’kovo lies in the north of Bryansk Oblast, in wooded country. The town is best known for glassmaking. Its crystal factory has been producing glass and crystal for more than two centuries, and Dyat’kovo crystal is a familiar name across Russia. A museum in town is devoted to the craft.
The town grew around the works and the water it needed, so ponds and a small river valley sit close to the centre. On a map the streets bend around these water bodies.
