Favara is a town in the province of Agrigento in southern Sicily, set on high ground a short distance inland from the coast. Its street map is dense and irregular, with narrow lanes and small courtyards packed closely together, a pattern shaped by centuries of building on uneven terrain.
At the centre is a main piazza with Castello Chiaramonte, a medieval castle built by the Chiaramonte family. In recent years the town has also become known for Farm Cultural Park, a contemporary art project set in the courtyards of the historic centre, which has drawn visitors to Favara.
