Town grid
Square blocks spread out evenly from the central plaza. The order of the pattern is clear against the forest around it and gives the poster a strong, readable centre.

Felipe Carrillo Puerto Map Poster & Print
Felipe Carrillo Puerto lies inland in central Quintana Roo, surrounded by low, flat forest on the Yucatán Peninsula. On a map it is a neat rectangle of streets, set astride the federal highway between the Riviera Maya and Chetumal. The blocks are square and regular around the central plaza. The edges loosen into lots and tracks that fade into the forest.
The town's history gives the map more weight than its size suggests. Under the name Chan Santa Cruz, it was the centre of the Maya rebellion during the Caste War of the nineteenth century. It was also the site of the sanctuary of the Speaking Cross. It was later renamed after Felipe Carrillo Puerto, a governor of Yucatán. A large share of the population still speaks Yucatec Maya.
A Felipe Carrillo Puerto map poster is a study in contrast. It shows a clear grid inside a surrounding field of green with almost no features. Roads leave the town in straight lines toward the coast and neighbouring villages. The plan is simple, but it holds a significant chapter of Mexican and Maya history.

Federal highway
The main road through the peninsula passes directly through town. It is a long straight line that connects the town north to Tulum and south to Chetumal.
Forest edge
Beyond the last streets, the map opens into largely empty ground. This is the low forest of central Quintana Roo, broken only by tracks and small clearings.

The town suits people who care about the Maya history of the peninsula, and people who come from here. For them the grid and the plaza are home. On a wall, the plan explains the place quickly: a planned centre in open country.
