Fengkou lies in the south of Hubei, in the Honghu area of the Jianghan Plain, a low, flat region shaped by the Yangtze and its many lakes. On the map, water is everywhere: canals, ponds, drainage channels and small lakes break up the land, and the town itself sits among them rather than on a single river.
The built-up area forms a compact cluster with streets following the canals and main roads, often at angles set by the waterways rather than a strict grid. Around it, the land is divided into fields and fish ponds, a pattern typical of this part of Hubei, where farming and aquaculture share the low ground.
