Fujia is a town in the south of Gansu Province, in the mountainous border country where the Loess Plateau gives way to the ranges that lead toward Sichuan. This is a landscape of deep valleys and steep slopes, and towns here are shaped by the narrow strips of flat land available to them.
From above, the built-up area follows the valley floor, with the main road running along its length and streets branching off where space allows.
