Gaoping Map Poster
Gaoping is a district of Nanchong in north-eastern Sichuan, lying along the Jialing River. The river winds through the city in wide meanders, and on the map Gaoping sits across the water from Shunqing, the historic centre, with bridges linking the two banks. The curves of the river give the whole city a looping, fluid outline that is easy to recognise from above.
Behind the riverbank the ground rises into the rounded hills typical of the Sichuan Basin, and roads curve around them rather than running straight. Newer neighbourhoods have spread across the flatter land near the water, forming a denser pattern close to the river and a looser one further out, where farmland and hills take over.
