Göd lies in Pest County, on the left bank of the Danube between Budapest and Vác. Its shape on a map is unusually elongated: the town runs north to south in a narrow band, bounded by the river on one side and the main road and railway on the other, with residential streets filling the space in between.
The Danube is the strongest element of the drawing. Here it is divided by Szentendre Island, whose long, wooded shape lies opposite the town, so the map shows a branch of the river and the island rather than a single wide channel. Riverside paths, beaches and small green areas line the bank.
