Gormi lies in the Bhind district of northern Madhya Pradesh, in the Chambal region close to the borders of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. From above, the town is a compact cluster of lanes and closely built houses, with a few main roads leading out across the flat farmland to neighbouring villages and to the larger towns of the district.
The land around Bhind is part of the plains shaped by the Chambal and its tributaries.
