Mansion streets
The Chettiar houses stand on long, narrow plots along quiet residential streets. From above this gives the town an unusually regular, measured rhythm.

Kāraikkudi Map Poster & Print
Kāraikkudi is the main town of Chettinad, the historic homeland of the Nattukottai Chettiar merchant community in southern Tamil Nadu. On the map it spreads across level, dry ground. Its streets are broad and fairly regular, and they are lined with deep plots. Railway lines cross the town, and roads lead out to the smaller Chettinad villages scattered around it.
The town is known for its Chettiar mansions: large courtyard houses built with wealth from trade across Southeast Asia. Many have long frontages on quiet streets. It is also the namesake of Chettinad cuisine, and it is home to Alagappa University. Water tanks, both temple tanks and village reservoirs, appear throughout the district as clean geometric shapes.
A Kāraikkudi map poster shows this orderly, spread-out townscape in black line on white. The street pattern is calmer than in most South Indian towns, and the tanks add small still forms among the blocks. For families from Chettinad in particular, it is a map that stands for heritage, trade and home.

Tanks and reservoirs
Temple tanks and village water tanks appear as crisp rectangles and irregular pools. They are small points of stillness across the flat Chettinad landscape.
Railway junction
Railway lines cross the town and meet at its junction. They cut clean diagonals through the street grid and tie Kāraikkudi to the rest of Tamil Nadu.

Chettinad families are spread across India and beyond, and many keep close ties to their ancestral towns. A map of Kāraikkudi is a quiet way to honour that connection, and the architecture-lined streets work well as pure graphic line.
You can add a family name or house name to the title, a subtitle, and the coordinates of a specific home. Then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to match the room.
