Kattivākkam Map Poster & Print
Kattivākkam is a locality on the coast north of Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, close to the Ennore area. From above, it sits on a narrow band of land between the Bay of Bengal and the backwaters and creeks that lie just inland. The streets follow this strip, running parallel to the shore with short lanes connecting them, so the map has a strongly linear, coast-bound character.
The Ennore coast is known for its port and industrial facilities as well as its fishing communities, and the interplay of water, settlement and infrastructure defines the area. On a map, the long straight shoreline and the irregular shapes of the backwaters give the built-up areas a clear setting.
A Kattivākkam map poster shows the locality between sea and creek: the ribbon of streets, the unbroken coastline and the soft, branching forms of the inland water. In black and white, that combination makes a distinctive composition, very different from the dense grid of central Chennai.

Inland backwaters
Just west of the settlement, creeks and backwaters form irregular, branching shapes, framing the narrow strip of land on which the locality is built.
Coastal ribbon
Streets run parallel to the shoreline with short connecting lanes, giving the built-up area an elongated form that follows the land between sea and creek.
