Peninsula outline
The town sits on a narrow spit of land with water on several sides, so the coastline gives the poster its strongest shape, with the streets filling the space in between.

Kilwa Masoko Map Poster & Print
Kilwa Masoko is the administrative centre of Kilwa District in Lindi region, on Tanzania's Indian Ocean coast. The town occupies a low peninsula, and on a map the water is almost as present as the land. Sandy tracks and a few paved roads run between low houses, and the shoreline breaks into shallow bays and mangrove channels.
Kilwa Masoko is best known as the gateway to Kilwa Kisiwani, the island just offshore whose ruins once belonged to one of the most powerful trading cities on the Swahili coast. Together with nearby Songo Mnara, those ruins are listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Boats cross to the island from the town's waterfront.
A Kilwa Masoko map poster shows the balance between the modest town grid and the complicated coastline around it. Channels, sandbanks and the outline of the neighbouring islands give the composition depth, even though the built-up area is small. It is a quiet, maritime map, shaped more by tides than by traffic.

Mangrove channels
Creeks and mangrove edges thread through the shallows around the peninsula and leave fine, branching lines along the shore that look almost hand drawn in print.
Kilwa Kisiwani offshore
Across a short stretch of water lies Kilwa Kisiwani, the historic island city. Depending on framing, its outline can sit at the edge of the map as a quiet counterpoint.

The map suits travellers who crossed to the ruins, people with family ties to the Swahili coast, or anyone drawn to coastlines that stay small and irregular. It reads as a simple, well-proportioned piece of graphic design.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a travel date, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand works especially well for a coastal place like this.
