Kirkby in Ashfield Map Poster & Print
Kirkby in Ashfield is in the Ashfield district of Nottinghamshire, close to Sutton-in-Ashfield and a short drive from the M1. From above, it is a long, fairly compact town whose older core near the church gives way to rows of terraces and later housing estates. Old colliery land and green spaces fill the gaps between neighbourhoods.
Coal mining shaped the town for generations, and although the pits have closed, their legacy is visible in the tight terraced streets built for miners and in reclaimed former industrial land now used for parks and new development. The Robin Hood Line railway, which runs between Nottingham and Worksop, passes through the town and gives the plan a clear north-south line.
As a monochrome print, Kirkby shows the grain of an English industrial town clearly: closely packed parallel terraces, curving post-war crescents and the railway cutting through. A Kirkby in Ashfield map poster is a straightforward, honest portrait of a place defined by work, community and the countryside that edges it.

Robin Hood Line
The railway between Nottingham and Worksop passes through the town and marks a strong line across the residential blocks.
Reclaimed colliery land
Open spaces where pits and spoil heaps once stood now appear as green gaps between estates, softening the edges of the plan.

Mining towns hold strong loyalties, and a map is a way to show them without nostalgia turning twee. Kirkby's layout carries decades of work and family history, and it looks sharp as a print in a hallway or living room.
Set your own title and subtitle, perhaps a family name or the pit your grandfather worked at, and keep the coordinates line. Pick Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download for $9 or order a printed poster.
