Koundara Map Poster & Print
Koundara is a town in the Boké Region of northwestern Guinea, close to the borders with Senegal and Guinea-Bissau. On a map it reads as a spread-out settlement rather than a dense city, with a central area of crossing streets and wide residential zones that loosen into compounds and tracks at the edge. The surrounding land is savanna, and it shows as open, uninterrupted space.
The prefecture is known for Badiar National Park, which adjoins Senegal's Niokolo-Koba park across the border and forms part of a larger protected savanna area. Roads leaving Koundara head toward the frontier and toward the rest of Guinea, and they give the town a star-like outline on the map.
