Kriva Palanka Map Poster & Print
Kriva Palanka lies in the northeast of North Macedonia, close to the border with Bulgaria, in the valley of the Kriva river between the Osogovo mountains and neighbouring ranges. From above, the town is long and narrow, with streets following the river and the main road through the valley.
The town's name comes from the Kriva, meaning crooked, and the river lives up to it on the map, bending through the valley floor. A short distance from the centre is the Osogovo Monastery, dedicated to St Joachim of Osogovo, one of the best-known monasteries in the country, set on a wooded hillside.
A Kriva Palanka map poster emphasises the linear shape of a valley town, with houses and streets climbing the lower slopes on both sides. The winding river, the road east toward the border and the mountain roads branching away give the design a strong sense of direction.

Linear valley town
The built area stretches along the valley floor, with side streets climbing the slopes, giving the town a long, narrow outline on the map.
Osogovo Monastery
East of the centre, a road leads up to the Osogovo Monastery, set on a forested hill above the valley with views across the mountains.
