The barbican wall
A semicircular wengcheng projects from the old town gate. It shows on the map as a neat crescent of stone against the looser grain of the surrounding lanes.

Laitan Map Poster & Print
Laitan sits in Hechuan District, in the northern part of Chongqing, on high ground beside the Qu River. From above, the old town is a compact knot of lanes on a ridge. Terraced fields and wooded slopes fall away on every side, and the river bends through the valley below in broad, unhurried curves.
The town is best known for its surviving Ming and Qing era fortifications, including a wengcheng, a curved barbican built out from a gate to shield it. On a map the barbican shows as a small crescent attached to the town wall. It is one of the few details in the landscape that looks deliberately drawn rather than grown.
A Laitan map poster keeps that contrast. The dense, irregular lanes of the old quarter sit against the looser pattern of newer streets, farm tracks and the river's wide sweep. Printed in black and white, the ridge-top settlement reads almost like a woodcut, with the fine texture of the lanes and the open ground set side by side.

Qu River bends
The Qu River loops through the valley below the ridge, a thick, calm line that anchors the lower part of the composition and gives the town its setting.
Ridge-top lanes
The old streets follow the crest of the hill, narrow and irregular. They form a dense core that thins quickly into fields and scattered buildings.

Some people choose Laitan because a family story passes through Hechuan. Others simply like how an old fortified town looks from above. Either way, the poster holds a place that grew up around defence and a river crossing, drawn at a scale where every lane is visible.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a date or a name, and a coordinates line. Then choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The layout adjusts to whichever print size you pick.
