The Adige crossing
The river divides Legnago into two parts. Its broad, gently curving channel is the central axis of the map, and bridges connect the two banks at intervals.

Legnago Map Poster & Print
Legnago stands on both banks of the Adige River in the lower Veronese plain. From above, the river cuts straight through the town, with the older centre on one bank and the district of Porto on the other, joined by bridges. The land all around is completely flat, made of fields and drainage channels arranged in a fine, regular pattern.
In the nineteenth century Legnago was one of the four fortress towns of the Austrian Quadrilateral, together with Verona, Mantua and Peschiera. Traces of that military past remain in the shape of the town. Legnago is also the birthplace of the composer Antonio Salieri, and the town theatre carries his name.
A Legnago map poster is built around the Adige. The river's wide band runs through the centre, the bridges stitch the two halves together, and the streets fan out onto the plain. In black and white, the town looks balanced and symmetrical. It is a quiet, legible map of an old river crossing.

Quadrilateral fortress
Legnago was one of four Austrian fortress towns in the region. Its defensive past still shows in how the historic centre is laid out along the river.
Salieri's hometown
Composer Antonio Salieri was born here, and the town theatre is named after him. It is a cultural reference point in the centre of Legnago.

A river running through the middle of town makes for a naturally elegant composition. Legnago suits anyone who grew up by the Adige, crossed its bridges daily or has an interest in Salieri and the music of his time.
