L’govskiy lies in the west of Kursk Oblast, in the valley of the Seym River. From above, the town's streets form a loose grid on the higher ground, with the river winding through a wide, low floodplain nearby. Meadows, oxbows and tree lines along the water make the river side of the map soft and irregular.
The railway plays a large part in the town's layout, with tracks and station areas running across the plan in long, straight lines. Residential streets of private houses with gardens fill most of the blocks, while larger buildings cluster around the centre.
