Lincoln lies in northern Rhode Island, and its eastern edge follows the Blackstone River, the waterway that powered some of America's earliest textile mills. On the map, a line of mill villages sits along the river, each a small knot of streets, while the rest of town is a mix of woodland, reservoirs and winding roads.
The town is part of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. Lincoln Woods State Park takes up a large block of forest and water in the south, and the Limerock area recalls the limestone quarrying that was once important here.
