Liuku Map Poster & Print
Liuku is the seat of Lushui and the capital of the Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in western Yunnan. It lies in the valley of the Nu River, known downstream as the Salween. The gorge sets the shape of everything here. The city is a thin strip along both banks, and steep slopes leave almost no room at either side.
The Nu is one of the great rivers of Asia. It flows south from the Tibetan Plateau through deep canyons before reaching the Andaman Sea. In Liuku, bridges link the two halves of the city, and roads on the slopes above follow the contour lines in tight curves.
A Liuku map poster is tall and dramatic. The river runs the full length of the frame, the city lines both banks, and the map is almost empty on either side where the mountains rise. It is a map that shows the terrain without any shading.

River bridges
Several crossings link the two banks. They appear as short firm lines across the water, joining an otherwise divided city.
Gorge-shaped streets
Buildings and roads stay in a narrow band along the valley floor. On the slopes, winding roads follow the contours of the steep terrain.
