Liwonde Map Poster & Print
Liwonde sits on the Shire River in southern Malawi, a short distance downstream from where the river leaves Lake Malombe. The river divides the town, and the crossing points are the most important lines on the map. A barrage controls the flow of water here, and road and rail routes cross nearby, linking the town into Malawi's southern transport network.
Upstream, and off to one side of the river, lies Liwonde National Park, one of Malawi's best-known wildlife areas. It is famous for its elephants, hippos and river safaris by boat. On a map, the park shows as a large space with few roads, in contrast to the denser town streets and farmland around Liwonde itself.
A Liwonde map poster centres on the river: its wide channel, the crossing points and the settlement on its banks. It is a calm, well-balanced composition. It will appeal to people who live in the town, to visitors who came through on the way to the park, and to anyone who has spent time on the Shire.

Barrage and crossings
A barrage and the nearby road and rail crossings span the river. Together they make Liwonde a key crossing point in southern Malawi.
Park boundary
The national park beyond the town shows up as open space with few roads, a clear contrast to the streets on the riverbanks.

Many people who have visited Malawi remember Liwonde as the place they first saw elephants by the river. For others, it is simply home. In both cases, a map of the river and town is a steady reminder of the place.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, perhaps with the date of a safari or a family name. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the river's strong lines.
