Two flanking rivers
The Progo and the Elo run roughly parallel on either side of town, so the built area reads as a long ridge held between two winding lines.

Magelang Map Poster & Print
Magelang sits on a narrow strip of high ground in Central Java, with the Progo river to the west and the Elo to the east. From above, the town is long and slim, stretched north to south along its main road. Streets branch off it in short, regular runs, then stop where the ground drops toward the river valleys that frame the whole settlement.
Near the centre rises Gunung Tidar, a small wooded hill that local tradition calls the nail of Java. On a map it shows as a quiet oval of open space with dense blocks pressed around it. Beyond the town edge, rice fields and villages spread toward the four volcanoes that ring the plain: Merapi, Merbabu, Sumbing and Sindoro.
A Magelang map poster shows a town shaped by its terrain more than by planning. The Akademi Militer, Indonesia's military academy, takes up a large, orderly block of its own, and the temple of Borobudur lies a short drive to the south. The printed sheet keeps only the lines: road, river, hill and the tight fabric of kampung lanes in between.

Gunung Tidar
A small forested hill near the centre, shown as a calm blank shape among dense streets. Local tradition treats it as the symbolic midpoint of Java.
Academy grounds
The military academy covers a broad, regular plot with straight internal roads, a clear contrast to the irregular residential lanes around it.

People who studied, served or grew up in Magelang often want a quiet reminder of that particular valley. The layout is easy to recognise even without labels: the long spine of the main road, the two rivers and the hill near the middle.
