Masamba is the administrative centre of North Luwu Regency in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It sits on lowland near the head of the Gulf of Bone, with the mountains of central Sulawesi rising to the north. From above, the town is a modest network of streets set among farmland and plantations.
The main road through the region runs past the town and links it to other centres along the gulf. Rivers come down from the high ground and cross the plain toward the sea. On the map they appear as winding lines against the straighter roads and field edges.
