Minaminagareyama is the southern part of Nagareyama in northwestern Chiba Prefecture, within commuting reach of central Tokyo. Its station is a transfer point between the Tsukuba Express and the JR Musashino Line. On a map the two rail corridors cut across the neighbourhood, and the rest of the district is organised around them.
Around the station, blocks are small and irregular in the usual Japanese suburban way. Narrow lanes branch off and double back, filling the space between larger roads.
