Mingshan Map Poster & Print
Mingshan is the main town of Fengdu County in Chongqing, on the banks of the Yangtze River downstream from Chongqing city. From above, the wide river dominates the map, and the town's streets line its bank, with newer districts built on higher ground after the Three Gorges reservoir raised the water level.
The town takes its name from Ming Mountain, a hill beside the river covered with temples and shrines. Together they form the Fengdu Ghost City, a site linked in Chinese tradition to the afterlife and one of the well-known stops on Yangtze river cruises. Paths and stairways wind up the hill among its buildings.
A Mingshan map poster shows the broad sweep of the Yangtze, the town arranged along its bank, and the wooded hill with its paths. In monochrome, the river's width and the curving roads on the slopes give the print both scale and detail.
