Railway-town grid
Mirandópolis grew beside the railway, and its centre is laid out as an even grid of blocks that looks very tidy in black and white.

Mirandópolis Map Poster & Print
Mirandópolis is a municipality in the west of São Paulo state, Brazil, in the region that was opened up by the Noroeste railway in the early twentieth century. It is closely associated with Japanese immigration. In the 1920s, the Aliança colonies were founded nearby by settlers from Japan, and their influence can still be seen in local farming and community life.
The map shows a clearly planned town. The centre is a regular grid of square blocks, laid out beside the railway line in the pattern typical of settlements founded along Brazil's inland lines. Around it, the land breaks into large farm parcels separated by long, straight rural roads. Small streams and patches of remaining woodland form irregular lines through otherwise orderly fields.
A Mirandópolis map poster brings out that planned geometry: a railway, a grid and a surrounding field pattern. It means a lot to families of Japanese-Brazilian heritage with roots in the Aliança colonies, and to anyone who grew up in the towns of the São Paulo interior.

Aliança colonies
Rural settlements founded by Japanese immigrants in the 1920s lie in the municipality, linked to the town by long, straight farm roads.
Farmland and streams
Large agricultural parcels cover the surrounding land, crossed by small streams whose winding courses break up the straight lines of the fields.

A map of Mirandópolis is a way to honour family history, especially for descendants of the Japanese settlers who helped shape the area. Its grid also has a strong graphic appeal.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name, perhaps, or the year your family arrived. Then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
