The Bangombé plateau beside the town holds major manganese deposits, and its extraction areas and haul roads form distinctive broad shapes on the map.

Moanda Map Poster & Print
Moanda lies in the Haut-Ogooué province of southeastern Gabon, on high ground near the regional capital Franceville. Its map shows a modest town of residential streets and service roads set among open hills, with patches of forest and savanna around it and large mining areas at its edge.
The town exists largely because of manganese. The Bangombé plateau nearby holds one of the world's major deposits, and mining has shaped Moanda since the mid-twentieth century, bringing roads, processing sites and housing for workers. The ore is carried away by road and by the railway linking the interior with the coast.
A Moanda map poster captures a place where industry and landscape meet. The town's streets are compact and irregular, the mining zones form broad and very different shapes nearby, and the roads between them wind across the plateau. It is an unusual subject, and a meaningful one for anyone connected to it.

Town core
Residential streets and a small commercial area form an irregular network, laid out around the practical needs of a mining community rather than a formal plan.
Roads to Franceville
Roads wind across the hilly country toward Franceville and the railway, the main links between Moanda and the rest of Gabon.

Moanda means something specific to the people who have lived and worked there, including families who came for the mines. A map of the town records that part of their story in a simple, lasting form.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the years you lived there, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files for all six print sizes cost $9, with a free watermarked preview first.
