Myawaddy Map Poster & Print
Myawaddy lies in Kayin State on the western bank of the Moei River, which forms the border between Myanmar and Thailand here. From above, the town is a close-packed grid set against the winding river, with the Thai town of Mae Sot on the other side. West of the last streets, farmland gives way to the ridges of the Dawna Range.
The town grew as one of the main land crossings between the two countries. The first Thai–Myanmar Friendship Bridge, opened in 1997, connects it to Thailand. A second bridge, built to carry freight, opened in 2019. Much of Myanmar's overland trade with Thailand has historically passed through this crossing.
A Myawaddy map poster turns a border into a line of water. It shows the curving Moei, the bridges stitched across it and the dense blocks pressed against the bank. The river border runs right through the composition, which makes this an unusual map for a town of its size.

Friendship bridges
Two road bridges cross the Moei. The older one is close to the town centre and the newer freight crossing is further along the river. Both show clearly on the map.
Dense river grid
Streets are laid out in a tight, regular pattern close to the water, where markets and trade grew up around the crossing.

Myawaddy is a town of movement, and many people who grew up here or passed through have family on both sides of the river. A map poster records that geography plainly: the town, the water and the bridges that connect it to the east.
Write your own title, subtitle and coordinates line and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 download gives you 300 DPI PNG and PDF files in six sizes to print locally. You can also order a finished poster.
