Niitsu-honchō Map Poster & Print
Niitsu lies on the Echigo Plain in Niigata Prefecture, now part of Niigata City's Akiha Ward. The land is almost completely flat, lying between the Shinano and Agano rivers, and the map shows it clearly: the town is surrounded by a patchwork of rice paddies, drainage channels and small villages, with the built-up area concentrated around the station.
Niitsu is best known as a railway town. Its station is a junction where the Shinetsu, Ban'etsu West and Uetsu lines meet, and the tracks converge on the centre from several directions. The area was also known for oil production in the early twentieth century, part of the history of this corner of Niigata.
A Niitsu-honchō map poster captures this landscape of lines: the rail tracks crossing the plain, the dense streets near the station and the regular geometry of fields and canals around them. In black and white, the flat terrain turns into a clean graphic pattern, and the converging railways give the design a strong central point.

Around the town, rice paddies and drainage channels form a regular geometric pattern across the plain, contrasting with the denser streets of the centre.
Between two rivers
The area lies on the flat ground between the Shinano and Agano rivers, part of the broad lowland that defines this part of Niigata.

For railway enthusiasts, for people from Niitsu, or for anyone who has changed trains here, this map records a place where routes meet. Its fields and tracks read almost like a technical drawing, which suits a study or a calm wall.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding the name in Japanese or a meaningful date, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9, and printed posters on matte paper can be ordered too.
